My Role: UX Design Lead.
Accountable for the end-to-end design, oversight of project designers, designing UX artifacts as needed (wires, flows, specs, etc.)
Resideo's customers need more advanced tools than ever before and our current offerings are only independent point solutions.
Resideo's internal teams are challenged to work together for the first time, with differing KPI's across business units.
How might we create a branded seamless experience between new and existing web tools to meet our internal and external customer needs?
I created personas based on existing user data, secondary research, and primary research of current customers. These personas allowed me and the team to design for the goals and values of our user base.
I created a clickable prototype to demonstrate the vision for what a seamless experience could mean for our customers. Though it was wireframe-y in nature, this was critical to gaining senior leadership support and aligning stakeholders on a common vision.
Creating an experience that felt seamless when navigating between various platforms and domains posed numerous challenges. Deep dives into the front-end capabilities of each platform and mapping their relationships helped me iterate to a flexible end-to-end UX architecture.
We wanted our users to feel that once they enter the Resideo Pro Portal they are always inside, regardless of what tool they needed (or what platform that tool/site was running on.) To accomplish this we implemented a shared navigational header while allowing each platform to supply the sub-navigation. To ensure in-page content retained consistent styling and experience we made our UI Kit available to partner platforms and I advised on their implementation.
Each touchpoint of the experience went through multiple iterations, revisions, and changes. Once the wireframe designs were strong enough, myself or the interaction designer for that screen worked alongside the visual designer to finalize the design.
