My Role: UX Designer
Interaction Design & Prototyping
Our company offered customers the ability to customize products with their brand, but the process was manual and labor intensive.
How might we enable customers to customize products with their brand in a simple and efficient way?
The existing product customization process required customers to navigate a confusing web interface and submit seperate forms for certain products. Our goals for this project were to:
Simplify the customer experience when ordering custom branded products
Streamline the process between products that require physical print customization vs. digital brand customization
Reduce in-house labor resources for supporting this service
Confusion was creating high service calls
I conducted a competitive analysis to see how well our competition was offering the same service. Next I look at similar experiences in other industries to find inspiration and identify what worked well.
Before jumping into Sketch, it was helpful to map out the work flow & understand the decision tree.
On this project, prototypes were helpful to allow myself to try out different interaction methods while designing the interface.
The new design improved the experience by:
Including the preview on the same page as the input fields
Establish a 'Cart' so customers can finish multiple custom orders more quickly
Creating an image library so customers don't need to struggle finding the image they used on a previous order
Key Design Improvements:

Including the preview on the same page as the input fields
Establish a 'Cart' mechanism
Allowing customers can finish multiple custom orders more quickly
Creating an image library so
Customers don't need to struggle finding the image they used on a previous order
